FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Why bone broth?
Bone broth has been shown to be one of the best things to help with:
• Healing a leaky gut
• Overcoming food intolerance and allergies
• Improving joint health
• Reducing cellulite
• Boosting the immune system
Nutrition researchers Sally Fallon and Kaayla Daniel of the Weston A. Price Foundation explain that bone broth contains minerals in forms that your body can easily absorb: calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, silicon, sulphur and many more. They contain chondroitin sulphates and glucosamine, the compounds sold as pricey supplements to reduce inflammation, arthritis and joint pain.
Studies also show that bone broth helps boost the immune system and heal disorders like allergies, asthma, and arthritis. This is thanks to the high levels of proteins (like collagen) and amino acids present in bones and bone marrow. When cooked for long periods of time (like we do), nutrients like glutamine, glycine, glucosamine, collagen, calcium soak into the broth. The end result is a super-healthy, gut-healing drink unlike any other.
How do you make your bone broth?
We slow-simmer our organic or 100% grass-fed bones for 24+ hours on low heat, along with organic vegetables and a few spices. This long cook process ensures that the nutrients and amino acids in the bones break down to create the high-protein, highly nutritious bone broth we are known for.
What are the health benefits of drinking bone broth?
Studies have shown that bone broth helps with skin health (thanks to high levels of collagen and glutamine), gut health (thanks to glycine that helps heal and seal the lining of the gut), joint health (thanks to amino acids like glucosamine), and reduces inflammation.
Unlike meats and vegetables, bone broth contains TONS of healthy amino acids that bones, marrow, and connective tissue is rich in. When slow-simmered for hours, these healthy proteins and amino acids soak into the bone broth and make their way into your body. This is why many of our customers have seen improvements in their joint pains and digestive health from having just a cup a day.
Can't I just buy broth from the grocery store?
Kettle & Fire is made from real bones, real ingredients and long cook times. Most store-bought broth (often labeled “stock”) from the grocery store uses a mash of bone paste or poor-quality cuts of meat, and cooks their broth at high temperatures. This results in a watered down, non-gelling broth that's missing the amino acid and protein benefits of a real bone broth. In fact, next time you're at the grocery store, check the ingredients panel - many of these "broths" don't even use bones!
How does your bone broth have a shelf life of two years?
We use millions of dollars worth of packaging technology to vacuum seal our bone broth and give it a shelf life of two years... all WITHOUT using any preservatives or additives.
What is your bone broth made of?
Beef bone broth: Marrow bones from organically raised, 100% grass-fed cows, organic carrots, organic celery, organic onions, organic bay leaves, organic apple cider vinegar, and RO-purified water.
Chicken bone broth: Chicken bone broth (filtered water, organic chicken bones, organic apple cider vinegar), chicken broth, organic celery, organic roasted poblano pepper, organic green pepper, organic onion, organic carrots, organic garlic, organic scallions, organic tomato puree, organic herbs (parsley, thyme, rosemary, basil), organic spices, sea salt.
Is Your Packaging BPA-free, Recyclable and Eco-Friendly?
Not only do we want to make and sell the best bone broth, but we want to do so in a way that is environmentally friendly. Our packaging is recyclable and made mainly of wood fibre – a natural and renewable raw material. Our packaging is BPA and BPS-free. No harmful styrofoam and dry ice packaging is ever used.
Why is bone broth good for the gut health?
Bone broth contains TONS of glycine and glutamine, two key amino acids that help remedy "leaky gut" and other digestive issues. The amino acids (especially glycine) keep the lining of the intestinal wall intact and strong. This means better digestion, and no particles leaking into the bloodstream!
What do I do with my bone broth?
We like to drink a mug of it, just like you would coffee or tea. In fact, warming up a cup of broth and adding a pinch of salt to taste is a great way to start your morning—try drinking 8 ounces a day, every day. Of course, you can use it in recipes wherever it calls for broth or stock, or turn it into a base for your favorite soup.
Once you open your bone broth, just pop it in the fridge. After being opened, it will stay good for 7-10 days.
What if I don't like it?
